The International Shooting Sport Federation and the International Paralympic Committee have extended their collaboration with an agreement regarding Shotgun Shooting events.

The agreement was signed by the ISSF President Mr. Olegario Vazquez Raña and the IPC Chief Executive Officer Mr. Xavier Gonzalez on the 16th of January.

Under the guidance of the International Shooting Sport Federation, and with the recognition of the International Paralympic Committee, the "Federazione Italiana di Tiro a Volo" (FITAV-the Italian Shotgun Shooting Federation) is tasked with the implementation of a project to develop Shotgun events for disabled shooters, based on ISSF Shotgun regulations.

Towards this end FITAV has received authorization to conduct test competitions for disabled shotgun shooters in order to report to the International Shooting Sport Federation.

"Our Federation supports the idea of launching a project to develop shooting events for disabled athletes." The ISSF Secretary General Mr. Franz Schreiber said.  "The ISSF and the IPC are collaborating many years in the field of Rifle and Pistol competitions and we are now willing to extend our agreements to Shotgun Shooting events".

This agreement comes after the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the ISSF and the International Paralympic Committee on the 10 of November 2010 which covered several areas including management, promotion of competitions and events, knowledge exchange and general development of the Paralympic Sport and participating athletes.

As the NGB for the sport the ICPSA is keen to engage in this process and so any members who wish to become involved are asked to please contact the General Secretary.
