76th ICPSA AGM
The 2009 Annual General Meeting took place last night at the Westcounty Hotel, Chapelizod, Dublin and a good crowd attended the event with proceedings starting at 8.15pm and with all business being concluded a little more than two hours later. The draft minutes are now available (18/08/09)
Following the reports from the Chairman, acting-Honorary Secretary and the auditors, seven of the eight motions put forward for adoption on the night were successful with only motion (number 8) being rejected by a resounding majority following a secret ballot.
Two guest speakers were in attendance and this portion of the meeting opened with the ICPSA Anti-Doping Officer Linda Cleary detailing what was necessary to ensure that members maintained compliance with the current regulations. Linda's presentation is timely considereing that the ISC Anti-Doping Unit paid a visit to an ICPSA event only three weeks ago and random testing took place.
The second speaker was Marie Ahern of the Irish Sports Council who updated those present on the progress being made between the ICPSA and the ISC among other things.
The AIB Shooting Stars for 2008 also received their awards on the night as did a very surprised Massey Shield recipient Robert Cavanagh.
It is hoped that the draft minutes from the AGM will become available in the coming weeks and the National Executive would like to thank all those who took the time to attend last nights meeting.
